HB2446 Summary

• Allows a court-designated person authorized to administer involuntary psychotropic medication or electroconvulsive therapy to designate another person to administer treatment in their absence.

• Requires any person designated in the court order to administer treatment to be a qualified acute and long-term health care professional familiar with the recipient's mental and physical status and active in their care.

• Requires any person designated by the court-designated person to administer treatment in their absence to be a licensed and qualified health care professional.

• Mandates the Department conduct annual trainings for physicians and registered nurses at State-operated mental health facilities on appropriate use of psychotropic medication and electroconvulsive therapy, standards for their use, and preparation of court petitions.
