Amends the Illinois Pension Code to require immediate reinstatement of disabled police officers who are found to have recovered from their disability after medical examination.

Police officers must be returned to the municipal payroll in the same rank or grade held when placed on disability pension, with the chief of police ordering immediate reinstatement into active service.

Police officers entitled to recover reasonable court costs and attorney's fees if they must file a civil action against their municipality to enforce the mandated return to payroll.

Allows disabled police officers to be assigned emergency duties without compensation as directed by the chief of police or chief officer.

Exempts the state from reimbursing municipalities for implementation costs of this mandate under the State Mandates Act.
