HB3858 Summary

• Establishes minimum fines of $250 for first offense and $750 for second or subsequent offense when a driver causes a motor vehicle accident resulting in pedestrian injury within 500 feet of a school, place of worship, child care institution, or hospital and commits a traffic violation related to the accident.

• Authorizes the Secretary of State to suspend an operator's driver's license for 90 days for second or subsequent violations under these circumstances.

• Adds a new ground (paragraph 46) for license suspension authorizing 90-day suspension for drivers convicted of 2 or more traffic violations resulting in pedestrian injuries as specified in Section 11-202(b).

• Effective January 1, 2010.
