IL HB4020

Amends the Chicago Park District Act to require criminal background investigations for all employment applicants as a condition of employment.

Designates the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the agency to conduct criminal history searches instead of the Department of State Police.

Prohibits employment of individuals convicted of first degree murder, Class X felonies, or specified criminal offenses including sexual abuse of minors, drug offenses, and certain violent crimes.

Requires the Chicago Park District to submit applicant information (name, sex, race, date of birth, social security number) to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on prescribed forms.

Takes effect January 1, 2010, with confidentiality protections for conviction records and penalties of Class A misdemeanor for unauthorized disclosure of applicant criminal information.
