• Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to prohibit probation, periodic imprisonment, or conditional discharge for Class 3 felonies or higher involving public official corruption when the offense consists of theft, fraud, extortion, or violations of Official Misconduct or Public Contracts articles.

• Mandatory imprisonment applies when the defendant was an elected official at the time of the offense or when the offense involved more than $10,000 in money or property.

• Exception allows probation or reduced sentencing if the prosecutor certifies that the defendant provided substantial assistance in the case or another prosecution of substantial public importance.
