HB4588 Summary

• Abolishes the regional office of education for the portion of Cook County outside Chicago effective upon the bill becoming law

• Transfers all powers, duties, and responsibilities of the abolished Cook County regional office to the State Board of Education through the State Superintendent of Education

• Transfers all books, records, documents, money, deposits, accounts, equipment, and property belonging to the former regional office to the State Board of Education (excluding items from county treasury or provided by county board)

• Repeals Section 3A-17 of the School Code concerning the regional office of education oversight board in Class II counties

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
