IL HB4814

Amends the Fire Protection District Act to allow boards of trustees to accumulate funds for operating expense reserves up to 3 times the average annual operating expenses of the district.

Permits fire protection districts to annually levy taxes for operating expense reserves in excess of current requirements, subject to existing tax rate limitations of 0.125% of taxable property value.

Maintains existing tax rate structures allowing districts to levy up to 0.30% with board action and up to 0.40% with voter referendum approval.

Requires tax levy ordinances to be filed with county clerks by the last Tuesday in December each year.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
