Beginning with the next registration year after this act takes effect in which the Secretary of State distributes newly designed standard registration plates, the Secretary shall issue one registration plate instead of two for newly registered motor vehicles.

The single registration plate shall be attached to the rear of motor vehicles instead of being displayed on both the front and rear.

References to "plates" in plural in any law or rule shall be deemed to refer to the single registration plate required under this act.

The changes apply to motorcycles, trailers, semitrailers, motorized pedalcycles, truck-tractors, and other motor vehicles subject to annual registration.
