IL HB5730

Allows the Department of Professional Regulation to place professional licenses into hibernation status for up to one year if the licensee was employed in their licensed profession for at least one year and lost their job without being fired for cause.

Requires licensees to apply for hibernation status within one year of job loss and mandates they are not subject to any disciplinary action or investigation by the Department.

Exempts licensees with hibernated licenses from paying Department fees owed at the time of hibernation until either the licensee requests restoration or one year passes.

Requires licensees to pay all fees owed prior to the hibernation period before license restoration, but exempts fees accrued during the hibernation period itself.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
