IL HB6007

Creates the Death Sentence Procedural Act to establish procedures for issuing death warrants in Illinois

Requires the prosecuting attorney to immediately provide the Governor with a certified copy of any final order from a court of last resort that upholds or affirms a death sentence

Mandates the Governor issue a death warrant setting a specific execution date within 72 hours of receiving the certified final order, unless a death warrant is already in effect

Preserves the Governor's authority to commute, delay, or otherwise impede the execution of a death sentence despite the mandatory warrant requirement

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
