Amends the Illinois Insurance Code by adding Section 356z.19 regarding coverage for medically necessary foods.

Requires group and individual accident and health insurance policies and managed care plans to cover medically necessary foods, low protein foods, and pharmacological doses of vitamins and amino acids for treatment of inborn errors of metabolism.

Coverage must include medical equipment and supplies needed to administer these foods when a prescribing physician issues a written order stating the foods are necessary for treating a disease or disorder.

Defines "medically necessary foods" as foods formulated for consumption or administration under qualified medical provider supervision, including nutritionally modified low protein versions of traditional foods for specific dietary management of disease.

Applies to policies amended, delivered, issued, or renewed after the bill's effective date.
