Courts may forgive interest accrued on past due child support obligations upon motion and notice if the obligor demonstrates inability to pay during the period when arrears accumulated.

Courts may forgive interest if the obligor agrees to make future support payments on time, with authority to reinstate forgiven interest if obligor fails to make timely future payments.

Courts may forgive interest if the obligor makes a lump sum payment toward the past due obligation.

Amendments apply to the Illinois Public Aid Code, Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, Non-Support Punishment Act, and Illinois Parentage Act of 1984.
