IL HB6901

Authorizes duty-disabled State Police officers, sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, and municipal peace officers to carry concealed weapons.

Permits relevant supervisors to summarily revoke or suspend concealed carry authorization for mental illness/impairment, substance abuse treatment, disciplinary action, failure to meet firearm qualification requirements, or threats to public safety.

Prohibits use of authorization revocation/suspension or failure to revoke/suspend in determining officer fitness for active duty or establishing liability of the Department of State Police, county, or municipality.

Specifies that ability to meet handgun qualification requirements cannot be used to assess whether a duty-disabled officer qualifies for active duty.

Limits home rule counties and municipalities from regulating duty-disabled officers' weapon carrying in ways inconsistent with these provisions; takes effect immediately.
