• Removes requirement that senior citizens in counties with 3,000,000 or more inhabitants must reapply annually for the Senior Citizens Homestead Exemption.

• Allows county boards in all counties (instead of only counties with fewer than 3,000,000 inhabitants) to adopt resolutions permitting qualifying seniors to maintain exemptions without annual reapplication.

• Provides that if annual verification is required, the assessor or chief county assessment officer must mail the application to the taxpayer.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
