IL HB6933

Amends the Election Code to prohibit registered tax purchasers from making campaign contributions to candidates for county treasurer in the county where they are registered.

Requires county treasurers to refuse any campaign contributions knowingly received from registered tax purchasers in their county.

Mandates that all tax purchasers in counties with less than 3,000,000 inhabitants must register with the county collector at least 10 business days before participating in tax sales, removing prior exceptions for counties that opted out.

Establishes that counties without existing registration requirements must implement registration beginning with their first tax sale occurring at least 12 months after this Act's effective date.

Preempts home rule units from conducting tax sales in a manner inconsistent with these registration requirements and takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
