HB6950 Summary

• Changes the Suburban Bus Board from a 13-member appointed board to a 9-member elected board, effective May 1, 2011.

• Establishes nonpartisan elections for Suburban Bus Board members at consolidated elections beginning in 2011, with one director each elected from Chicago, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties, and three from suburban Cook County.

• Eliminates all compensation for elected board members beginning May 1, 2011, except for reimbursement of actual expenses up to $5,000 per year.

• Eliminates pension and group insurance benefits for elected board members, preventing any service credit in retirement systems under the Illinois Pension Code.

• Reduces the voting threshold for board actions from 7 affirmative votes to 5 affirmative votes beginning May 1, 2011.
