HJR0006 Summary

• Creates the School Transportation Task Force with 12 members appointed by legislative leaders, the Governor, and representatives from nonprofits, school transportation providers, school boards, and school administrators.

• State Superintendent of Education and Secretary of the Department of Transportation may serve ex officio on the Task Force at their discretion.

• All Task Force appointments must be made within 45 days of resolution adoption, with the Task Force to select its own chair and officers.

• Task Force shall study possible legislation to change current transportation programs offered by the Illinois State Board of Education and report findings and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly by June 30, 2010.

• Task Force members serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for reasonable and necessary expenses, with administrative support provided by the Office of the Governor.
