Urges the Illinois State Board of Education to seek federal and private funding to support the Illinois Council on Economic Education, which had received General Revenue Funds since Fiscal Year 2000 but was not included in the Fiscal Year 2010 budget.

Recognizes that personal financial management education covering saving, spending, credit, investment, taxes, and insurance is an essential life skill for all Illinoisans.

Notes that the Illinois Council on Economic Education impacts approximately 200,000 students annually at a cost of $1.30 per student through a recurring $250,000 appropriation.

Urges the federal government to allocate stimulus funds to promote educational opportunities focused on teaching students economic principles.

Requires distribution of this resolution to the Illinois State Superintendent of Education and all Illinois congressional delegation members.
