Congratulates Tinley Park Fire Marshal Robert Bettenhausen on 57 years of dedicated service and his retirement.

Recognizes his service as Fire Chief from 1966 to 1993 and his establishment of the full-time Fire Prevention Bureau, Fire Department Training Center, 9-1-1 emergency service, and enhanced fire safety regulations.

Acknowledges his 27-year membership on the Fire Advisory Board of the Office of the State Fire Marshal and his role as chair of the Fire Training Advisory Board at the University of Illinois.

Notes his receipt of Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and National Volunteer Fire Council, designation as 1997 Fire Chief of the Year, and Chief Fire Officer designations in 2003, 2006, and 2009.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Robert Bettenhausen as a symbol of respect.
