Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion on April 20, 2010, located 50 miles off Louisiana coast, killed 11 workers and caused massive ongoing oil spill in Gulf of Mexico.

Oil rig owned by Transocean Ltd. and leased by BP PLC; continues leaking thousands of gallons of oil daily, creating one of the worst man-made environmental disasters in recent memory.

Urges continued growth and development of biofuels to reduce dependence on oil, create domestic economic development and employment opportunities, and help prevent future environmental disasters from oil production.

Directs presentation of resolution copy to Illinois Governor, Illinois congressional delegation, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Corn Growers Association, and Illinois Soybean Association.
