Congratulates Lela A. Bridges on her retirement as District 152 Superintendent of Schools after 38 years of dedicated service.

Recognizes Bridges as the longest-sitting African-American female superintendent in the State of Illinois, having served as superintendent for 15 years.

Acknowledges her career progression through roles as teacher, dean of students, elementary and high school principal, and central office administrator as a 3rd generation educator.

Notes her numerous awards and honors including the South Suburban YMCA community service award, Illinois State Board of Education Break The Mold Award, and a street named after her in Harvey in 2004.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Bridges as a symbol of esteem and respect.
