Team of wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans representing all military branches departed from Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on May 22, 2010, for a 4,000-mile bike trek to Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Bike ride spans 63 days and is called the Sea to Shining Sea program, organized by World T.E.A.M. Sports nonprofit organization to demonstrate that disabled Americans can lead productive lives and accomplish significant feats.

Riders will travel through Illinois from July 2 through July 7, passing through Durham, La Harpe, Blandinsville, Canton, Pekin, Bloomington, Champaign, Danville, and other communities.

Major supporters include State Farm Insurance Company, MeadWestvaco Corporation, Dominion Resources, General Electric, Penske Truck Rental, Verizon Wireless, and Soldiers Angels, with State Farm agents serving as community coordinators throughout the ride.

Illinois House of Representatives encourages state citizens to welcome and offer assistance to the cyclists, congratulating them and providing best wishes for a successful cross-country journey.
