Congratulates the Village of Shannon, located in northeastern Carroll County, Illinois, on its sesquicentennial celebration in 2010.

Acknowledges that Shannon was founded in 1860 by William Shannon and that Elijah Northey helped bring the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railroads through the village to facilitate growth.

Notes that Shannon is currently a community of approximately 850 people surrounded by farmland, evolving from its origins as a service center for thriving family farms in the area.

Recognizes Shannon's Homecoming celebration and sesquicentennial commemoration scheduled for Labor Day weekend, September 4-6, 2010, which originated to welcome soldiers returning from World War I.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Bonnie Heckman Foust, Shannon Village President, as a symbol of respect and esteem.
