Jon Alexander Daye passed away on July 8, 2010, and the Illinois House of Representatives expresses condolences to his family and friends.

Daye was a radio and television personality beginning in the early 1970s, hosting shows including "On Target" on WVON Radio, programs on Star Planet Television Network and Cable Channel 25, and "News Talk" on Rev. Harold Bailey's PCC Network.

Daye's television and radio forums featured African-American candidates, judges, aldermen, and county officials, and provided platforms for former Chicago Mayors Harold Washington and Eugene Sawyer and U.S. Senator Roland Burris.

Daye founded and led several award programs recognizing community service and accomplishments, including the Kizzy Award for women, Success Awards for men, and the Black Woman Hall of Fame Foundation with the Bethune-Tubman Truth Award.

Daye is survived by fiancee Bernadine Whiteurst, daughters Christy Robinson and Tracy Landing, grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
