Jon Alexander Daye passed away on July 8, 2010, and the Illinois House of Representatives mourns his death.

Daye was a pioneering media personality who began appearing on talk television in the early 1970s, focusing on African-American community issues and providing a forum for black political candidates and officials.

Daye hosted radio and television programs including "On Target" on WVON Radio, talk shows on Star Planet Television Network (Cable Channel 25), and "News Talk" on the PCC Network.

Daye founded and presided over several awards programs recognizing community achievements, including the Kizzy Award for women, Success Awards for men, and the Black Woman Hall of Fame Foundation's Bethune-Tubman Truth Award.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Daye's family, including his fiancee Bernadine Whiteurst, daughters Christy Robinson and Tracy Landing, and grandchildren.
