Judge Patrick E. McGann was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1972 after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton (1969) and law degree from DePaul University College of Law.

Served as Cook County Assistant State's Attorney from 1972 to 1978 and in private practice from 1978 to 1988 before being sworn in as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County on June 17, 1988.

Elected as a full Circuit Judge from the 3rd Judicial Subcircuit in 1992 and served as Supervising Judge of the Traffic Center from 1996 to August 2001, mentoring more than 120 new judges.

Transferred to the Chancery Division in July 2001 and named Presiding Judge of the County Division in October 2005, serving in that position until his retirement on August 31, 2010.

Served as an officer of the Illinois Judges Association from 1996 to 2000 and was elected as its president in 1999; the House congratulates Judge McGann on his retirement and authorizes presentation of a suitable copy of this resolution to him.
