Honors Edward R. Abderholden of Antioch, who died on August 3, 2010.

Abderholden graduated from Harper High School and the University of Illinois before serving as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army in post-World War II Japan, being honorably discharged on April 1, 1953.

Graduated from Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in 1956 and established the Orchard Medical Center in Antioch in 1958, where he practiced pediatrics, internal medicine, general surgery, and obstetrics/gynecology.

Served in multiple leadership roles including chief of staff at St. Therese Hospital (1993, 1994) and Victory Hospital (1973), co-director of St. Therese Hospital Star Hospice, and clinical assistant professor at Chicago Medical School (1995-1996).

Active in community service including 50 years with Antioch Lions Club, membership in Knights of Columbus and Antioch Rotary, and service as a basketball referee and sideline physician for Antioch High School; survived by his wife Dolores, six children, and multiple grandchildren.
