The Illinois House of Representatives honors "A Place For Me" Autism Learning Center in Chicago on the occasion of their third annual dinner for autism awareness on October 23, 2010.

"A Place For Me" was founded by Elaine Reeves-Haywood in June 2002 to provide tools, programs, and services for children with autism and their families.

The organization's mission includes providing services and support to families affected by autism, raising community awareness, sponsoring family outings, and providing training on autism-related topics.

The long-range goal of "A Place For Me" is to establish a community center offering after-school programs, social skill programs, and parent workshops.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Elaine Reeves-Haywood as a symbol of respect and esteem for the organization's work.
