Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Matthew Edward Ryan of Joliet, who passed away on September 13, 2010

Served as Chief of Staff for Will County Executive Larry Walsh from 2004 until his death and worked with multiple civic organizations including the Joliet Chamber of Commerce, Easter Seals, and Cornerstone Services

Had extensive political career involvement including work on campaigns for Paul Lenz's mayoral reelection in Alton, David Robinson's 1980 Congressional campaign, U.S. Representative George Sangmeister's 1992 campaign, and Paul Vallas's 2001 gubernatorial campaign as campaign manager

Held positions including staff member for Illinois Senate President Phil Rock beginning in 1982 and President of the Illinois Young Democrats in 1984

Survived by wife Angela Welsh (married 1993), parents Robert and Mary Jane Ryan, sisters Susan Martin and Kathleen Lang, and three nieces
