Illinois House of Representatives congratulates the Monarch Awards Foundation of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated's Xi Nu Omega Chapter on hosting its 28th Annual Monarch Awards Gala titled "A Tribute to Black Men" on December 4, 2010.

Monarch Awards Foundation established in 1988 as a non-profit organization has awarded over $600,000 in scholarships and non-profit assistance since its inception.

Foundation provides community programs, scholarships to students, assistance to community-based nonprofits, and promotes cultural awareness and diversity.

All profits from the annual Monarch Awards Gala are used to provide scholarships and donations to other nonprofit agencies serving the community.

House of Representatives wishes the foundation continued success and happiness and directs presentation of a suitable copy of the resolution as a symbol of respect and esteem.
