Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Hinsdale Deputy Fire Chief Mark P. Johnson, who died in the line of duty on September 20, 2010.

Mark Johnson joined the Hinsdale Fire Department in February 1986 and was promoted to lieutenant in October 2001, captain in May 2003, and deputy chief in May 2008.

He held an associate's degree in fire science from College of DuPage, a bachelor's degree in fire science from Southern Illinois University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from University of Illinois Chicago.

Johnson voluntarily enrolled in the Good Samaritan Paramedic program in 1988 and served as the department's training officer and paramedic coordinator.

A suitable copy of the resolution is to be presented to Johnson's surviving family, including his wife Cheryl, son Matthew, and four siblings.
