Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Reverend Clara Jean McKinney Puckett of Chicago, who passed away on October 18, 2010.

Reverend Puckett was born August 28, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee and earned degrees from Marion Business College, Olive Harvey College, and completed coursework at Chicago State University.

She was a community activist and political organizer who helped elect Harold Washington as Chicago's first Black mayor and worked on campaigns for State Representative Monique Davis and Congressman Danny K. Davis.

She founded Universal Networking Consultants in 1982, established the Think Tank Ministry and College Care Package Program, co-hosted the radio talk show "Consumer Eye," and worked extensively with seniors, youth organizations, and community groups including Operation PUSH and Girl Scouts of Chicago.

The House directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Puckett's family as a symbol of sincere sympathy.
