Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of U.S. Army Private First Class Andrew N. Meari of Plainfield, who was killed on November 1, 2010, in the Zhari district of Kandahar, Afghanistan.

PFC Meari (born September 14, 1989) served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

PFC Meari received the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Infantry Badge.

United States and Illinois flags throughout the state will be flown at half-staff from November 8-10, 2010, as a symbol of mourning for PFC Meari's sacrifice.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to PFC Meari's family as a symbol of sympathy from the Illinois House of Representatives.
