Illinois House of Representatives expresses mourning for the death of Major John Francis Lynn, United States Marine Corps (retired), of Marion, who passed away on October 10, 2010.

Major Lynn served 23 years total in the Marine Corps (3 years enlisted, 20 years as an officer) and served as a tank officer in California and North Carolina and as a foreign area officer in Central and South America.

Major Lynn was a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Law and served as assistant dean for Administration of the Southern Illinois University School of Law until his death.

Major Lynn directed the Veterans' Legal Assistance Program at Southern Illinois University School of Law, served as Pro Bono Counsel for Fisher House in Chicago, and dedicated considerable time working on behalf of local veterans.

A suitable copy of this resolution shall be presented to Major Lynn's family as a symbol of sincere sympathy.
