Illinois House of Representatives recognizes the Austin African American Business Networking Association (AAABNA) for its work in the Austin community.

AAABNA was founded in 2003 by Malcolm Crawford, Rickey Sanders, and Aleatra Elzy to promote African-American business growth through networking and support programs for emerging and existing businesses.

AAABNA hosts monthly meetings with area businesses, elected officials, and the Chicago Police Department; led design of the Austin Business and Entrepreneurship Academy; created a community garden on Chicago Avenue; and hosts an annual business summit with federal, state, and local agencies.

AAABNA's goal is to create an African-American focused business district that makes Austin a beautiful and safe community for residents, business leaders, and visitors.

House directs a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to AAABNA as a symbol of esteem and respect.
