United States Army Specialist James "Chad" Young, born August 10, 1985, in Springfield, passed away on November 3, 2010, while serving in Nar-Kariz, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Young graduated from Glenwood High School in 2003, joined the Army in 2004, served in Korea, and completed a first deployment to Afghanistan before returning for a second tour of duty in June 2010.

He was posthumously promoted to corporal and was assigned to the 863rd Engineer Battalion at the time of his death.

The Illinois House of Representatives mourns Young's passing and honors his memory and ultimate sacrifice for his country.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Young's family, including his parents Jerry and Brett Ann Bowen Young, sister Katie Marie Robbins, brother Steven Baptist, and extended family members.
