Illinois House of Representatives congratulates James F. Capraro, founding Executive Director and CEO of the Greater Southwest Development Corporation, on his retirement after 35 years, effective July 2, 2010

Capraro led major development projects including 3 senior housing projects, a Jewel Osco grocery store, the IMAN health clinic, and rehabilitation of single-family properties for first-time homebuyers

The Greater Southwest Development Corporation was designated as a national model for commercial revitalization by the National Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation and received the 2001 Chicago Local Initiatives Support Corporation Outstanding Community Development Organization award

Capraro continues working as Principal of Capraro Consulting, promoting comprehensive community development across the country for the National Local Initiatives Support Corporation

House directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Jim Capraro as a symbol of respect and esteem
