Illinois House of Representatives congratulates the Galesburg Lions Club on its 90th anniversary, with the charter presented on November 18, 1920, and Attorney L. Fred O'Brien serving as the first president.

The club became the 12th Lions Club organized in Illinois with 37 founding members and has focused on sight conservation for the past 65 years, distributing thousands of pairs of glasses to those in need.

The Galesburg Lions Club has donated funds to local hospitals for eye equipment, hosted medical clinics, and in recent years contributed $5,000 for hiking trails and $6,000 for a Little League Park scoreboard.

The club welcomed women as members in the 1990s, with female members serving as chairs of major committees and participating in 100% of club activities.

The House of Representatives directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Galesburg Lions Club as a symbol of respect and esteem.
