Illinois House of Representatives expresses condolences for the death of Bruno Bartoszek of Aurora, who passed away on November 1, 2010.

Bartoszek was born February 27, 1922 in Poland and served as a World War II veteran in the Polish 2nd Corps, 3rd Carpathian Division under British Command, fighting in North Africa, the Middle East, and Italy including the Battle of Monte Cassino in May 1944.

Received multiple military decorations including the Virtuti Militari medal (Polish equivalent of Congressional Medal of Honor), Army Medal, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defense Medal, and Cross of Monte Cassino Medal.

After the war, relocated to the United States in 1951 and worked for Aurora Pump, Burlington Northern Railroad, and Prudential Insurance Company before retiring.

Survived by his wife Wanda, daughter Annette Lawrence, son Jack Bartoszek, three grandchildren, sister Angela Buczkiewicz, and other family members; a copy of the resolution to be presented to his family.
