Dr. Michael J. Stablein of Chicago passed away on November 14, 2010, prompting the Illinois House of Representatives to memorialize his life and contributions.

Served as president of the Chicago Dental Society beginning January 1, 2010, after holding positions as treasurer and multiple offices within the West Side Branch, including presidency in 1992-1993.

Held a DDS and PhD in pathology from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry (graduated 1978) and served as instructor in periodontics and pathology at the University of Illinois-Chicago Medical Center from 1978 to 1987.

Published journal articles and co-authored a chapter in "The Histology of the Oral Mucosa"; served as General Chair of the 139th Midwinter Meeting in 2004 and on multiple society committees including Access to Care, Mediation, and Membership.

Survived by his wife Dr. M. Caroline Scholtz and four children: Michael, Gabriela, Andrew, and Amelia.
