House of Representatives declares support for the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) to reduce the number of nuclear weapons globally and reestablish U.S. leadership on nuclear non-proliferation.

New START reduces Russia's nuclear arsenal, lowers permitted warheads and missiles in both countries, reestablishes U.S. inspections of Russian nuclear facilities, and provides funding for U.S. nuclear facility maintenance and modernization.

Resolution expresses concern that development of nuclear bunker-busters and "usable" nuclear weapons increases probability of nuclear weapon use and states that the taboo against nuclear weapons is weakening.

Resolution emphasizes that even a small nuclear weapon could destroy a major city and kill up to one million people, while a 100-weapon nuclear exchange would cause ten years of global famine and up to one billion deaths.

Resolution commends Pasha Hunt-Golliday for her work as a Nuclear Security Ambassador advocating for a nuclear weapon-free world.
