SB0289 - Illinois Dental Practice Act Amendments

• Public member of the Board of Dentistry shall not participate in rulemaking or disciplinary cases involving clinical standards or clinical judgments by dentists.

• Board shall annually review emerging scientific technology and applications and adopt rules governing appropriate use and required training for dental hygienists and assistants using such technologies, including laser treatments.

• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification training required for dental hygienist license renewal shall count toward continuing education hour requirements.

• Teeth whitening activities constitute practice of dentistry, including taking impressions of human teeth and performing any phase of teeth whitening operations, including sale, instruction, and on-site application of whitening materials or procedures.

• Dentures and removable dental prostheses must be marked with patient's name during fabrication; social security number requirement removed from identification marking provision.
