IL SB1580

Amends the Public Community College Act to limit student board members to serving only one term on community college district boards of trustees.

Student members remain non-voting members with all other privileges of membership, including making motions, seconding motions, and attending executive sessions.

Student terms are one year beginning April 15 each year, except the initially selected student member serves from the date of selection until the next June 30.

In multi-campus districts, student members are selected by lottery each year to represent different campuses, with rotation through all campuses before any campus is repeated.

Student members are selected through campus-wide student referendum.
