SB1617 Summary

• Amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act to require applicants for license issuance or renewal to submit either a Department-approved plan for serving Medicaid recipients and medically underserved populations, an Attorney General-approved charity care plan, or a notarized statement certifying they will not refuse service based on Medicaid reimbursement.

• Denies license renewal if the Department determines the applicant failed to comply with previously submitted plans or notarized statements regarding Medicaid and underserved population service requirements.

• Amends the Radiation Protection Act of 1990 to impose identical Medicaid/underserved population service requirements on Class C and Class D radiation installations (excluding hospitals) that administer radiation to human beings.

• Prohibits radiation administration in non-hospital Class C and Class D radiation installations if the Agency determines prior non-compliance with submitted Medicaid service plans or notarized statements.

• Takes effect upon becoming law.
