Effective July 1, 2009, all employees providing medical services at Illinois Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice facilities, and their support staff, become State employees.

Existing collective bargaining units and representation of medical vendor employees are preserved under current collective bargaining agreements.

Collective bargaining representatives may petition the Illinois Labor Relations Board for unit clarification to consolidate medical vendor employees into existing State employee bargaining units represented by the same bargaining agent.

Professional medical employees from vendors may be consolidated into existing professional employee units; other employee categories may be consolidated into similar existing units, all represented by the same bargaining representative.
