IL SB2019

Creates the Continuity of Patient Care for Immunosuppressant Drugs Act to protect coverage of immunosuppressant drugs used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs and tissues.

Prohibits health insurance policies and health care service plans from limiting, reducing, or denying coverage of immunosuppressant drugs if the insured was currently using the drug and both the insured and drug were covered under the policy or contract.

Defines coverage limitations to include removing drugs from formularies, imposing new prior authorization requirements, or placing drugs on higher cost-sharing tiers.

Allows insurers to make benefit design changes that apply to all covered drugs and to increase cost-sharing obligations due to percentage coinsurance payments that rise with underlying drug prices.
