IL SB2122

Amends the Environmental Protection Act to require the Pollution Control Board to conduct a regulatory proceeding to determine appropriate water quality and effluent standards for boron in Illinois.

Prohibits enforcement of Illinois's existing boron water quality standard of one milligram/liter (mg/l) unless and until the Board completes its regulatory proceeding and determines what boron standards, if any, are appropriate for the state.

Notes that the current boron standard was adopted before the federal Clean Water Act and has not been subject to federal adoption or recommendation since that time, making reconsideration necessary.

Requires the regulatory proceeding to follow procedures prescribed in Title VII of the Environmental Protection Act.
