IL SB3119

Amends the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act to modify education requirements for professional counselor licensure (225 ILCS 107/45).

Eliminates the option for baccalaureate degree holders to qualify for licensure through 5 years of supervised experience; now requires applicants to be graduates of a master's or doctoral level program in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or a similar Department-approved program.

Maintains existing requirements for clinical professional counselor licensure, including master's or doctoral degree with 2 years of supervised clinical experience.

Allows individuals with active licenses as clinical psychologists or clinical social workers in Illinois to obtain clinical professional counselor registration without examination.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
