SB3172 Summary

• Amends Section 2-45 of the Property Tax Code to add a seventh qualification option for township and multi-township assessor candidates in high-value assessment districts.

• Adds State-certified general real estate appraiser license (as defined in the Real Estate Appraiser Licensing Act of 2002) as an eligible qualification for assessor candidates.

• Changes the reference from six to seven qualification paragraphs in subsections (b) and (c) for assessor eligibility requirements.

• Applies the new appraiser qualification to township or multi-township assessment districts with $25,000,000 or more of non-farm equalized assessed value or $1,000,000 or more in commercial and industrial equalized assessed value.

• Takes effect upon becoming law.
