IL SB3499

Creates the Health Care Billing Practices Act to establish billing requirements for health care providers treating minor children with uncovered medical expenses.

Requires health care providers to proportionally bill each parent for uninsured medical costs exceeding $50 if either parent provides a certified copy of a court order requiring proportional payment of child health care expenses.

Makes the parent accompanying a child to a health care visit responsible for providing the provider with the most current court order detailing proportional payment obligations between custodial and non-custodial parents.

Clarifies that the Act applies only to billing practices and does not restrict health care providers' ability to collect unpaid medical expenses through other means.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
